Elf Turns 20: The Beloved Christmas Classic Returns to Theaters and Beyond

As the winter season draws near, a beloved holiday tradition is making a triumphant return. Elf, the 2003 Christmas comedy that has warmed the hearts of audiences for two decades, is coming back to theaters in celebration of its 20th anniversary. However, the festivities don’t end there – the fun extends far beyond the silver screen.

A Christmas Classic on the Big Screen

In a joyous announcement, Warner Bros. Discovery revealed that Elf will be screening in select theaters across the U.S. and U.K. starting November 17. This re-release is a part of a grand 20th-anniversary celebration for the film that has become a cherished holiday staple.

The movie, starring Will Ferrell as the lovable Buddy the Elf, has been delighting audiences with its infectious Christmas spirit since its release. In the film, Buddy embarks on a heartwarming journey to New York City to meet his biological father, played by James Caan, leading to a comical clash of personalities.

Those eager to participate in the festive fun can check their local theater listings to find out where the film is being screened.

Special Screenings at The Empire State Building

In a delightful nod to the film’s iconic setting, Warner Bros. Discovery has arranged special movie screenings at the historic Empire State Building. On December 3, 10, and 17, the film will be shown on the 80th floor of the famous landmark.

Audiences are promised a memorable experience with freebies such as candy, snacks, and drinks. Additionally, visitors will have the unique opportunity to take pictures with a life-size version of Buddy the Elf at the building’s 86th-floor observatory starting November 10.

Celebrate Elf in Kennebunk with “Buddy’s Bar at Rabbit Hole”

The film’s influence extends far beyond the big screen and into the heart of Kennebunk, where the spirit of Buddy the Elf comes alive at the Buddy’s Bar at Rabbit Hole. To pay homage to the movie’s 20th anniversary, the bar will transform into a festive wonderland inspired by Buddy’s adventures throughout December.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the holiday spirit with a special menu of Elf-inspired cocktails, crafted by expert mixologists and influenced by Buddy’s favorite food groups. Adding to the festive cheer is a dedicated Elfie photo booth, where visitors can dress up in elf hats and pointy shoes for the perfect Elfie selfie.

The bar will also be serving Buddy’s famous “Four Main Elf Food Groups” – candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup. Open from December 1-30, the “Buddy’s Bar” at Rabbit Hole invites everyone for a month-long celebration of Elf that promises to fill hearts with holiday cheer.
